Snow on your Sidewalk… Remember to Shovel!
Shoveling the snow off your sidewalk isn’t just the neighborly thing to do. It’s the Law.

The City of Colorado Springs requires that all Colorado Springs Home Owners clear the snow off their sidewalks within 24hrs, after the snow stops falling. Snow removal includes all adjacent sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, and sidewalks along the rear or side of a property line or fence.
When the City of Colorado Springs receives a complaint regarding residential snow removal, the following action is taken:
1. No sooner than 24 hours after a storm has stopped (residential) or 5 p.m. the following day (business) an inspection will be made. If the inspector finds the area property owner in non-compliance, a verbal warning will be given in person or a door tag will be left.
2. The inspector will make a follow-up inspection the next day. If the area property owner is still in non-compliance, a final verbal warning will be given in person or door final door tag will be left.
3. If no action has been taken the next day, the City will hire pre-approved contractors to remove the snow. The property owner will be billed for the cost plus City administrative fees.
4. If the bill is not paid, City staff is authorized to place a lien against the property owner’s property.
Please Note: Proactive inspections may be made near schools and hospitals (3 block radius).
