Why think about Resale?

When Buying a Home in Colorado Springs, it’s important to consider what it will take to resale the home in the future. This is going to take a little extra effort when you Search Homes for Sale in Colorado Springs.
This DOES NOT mean not to buy a home that fits your families needs. Just take future buyers into consideration, so that when you’re ready to sale, it will be that much easier.
Let’s start with location. Is the Colorado Springs Neighborhood your looking at in high demand? How long has it been a desirable place to live? How about a few years from now, will buyers still be interested? Are there plenty of services in the Colorado Springs Neighborhood you’re looking to buy your home in?
Will your home be in a Colorado Springs Area that attracts young buyers? If so, consider buying a home with a yard, that’s not close to a busy street. When older ones live in the area, you may want to consider buying a one level home.
It’s always good to avoid buying a home in Colorado Springs that is outdated. For instance, maybe the home only has one bathroom or electric baseboard heating.
However, cosmetic updates are easy. A fresh coat of paint, new appliances, and new light fixtures can make a big difference.
What else do buyers look for in Colorado Springs? Here are a few:
-
Two Car Garages
-
A Mountain View
-
Short Distance from Military Bases
-
Close to Shopping
-
Attached Master Bathroom
Most importantly, this is your home, so make it practical for your family first. Just keep in mind that most folks move about every 3-5 years, so resale is an important factor to consider when Buying a Home in Colorado Springs.

Dance Competition in Colorado Springs!
Well, since the weather is terrible this weekend and Earth Day at Garden of the Gods is out of the question for those who can’t stand the cold, why not support the Colorado Springs community and go to a dance competition?
This Saturday April 18, 2009, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will sponsor an All City High School Step Show and Dance Competition. The event will be held at the Colorado College Sports Center, located at 14 East Cache La Poudre St. Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
Some of the Colorado Springs Schools that will be performing are: Sand Creek, CIVA, LIFE, The Millennium All-Stars, Barbara Ellis Studio of Dance and Doherty. Performers from Denver will also participate for the first time, in this now 4 year event.
The competition is a fundraiser for the Omega Uplift Foundation to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The doors will open at 4pm and the performances will start at 5pm. The attendance for the 2008 event was over 700!
The cost for Adults is $10; Students with School ID $5; Kids under 5 are FREE! Purchase tickets at the door until sold out, better get there early!
For more information on this event contact Eric Brazil 491-6369 or Gatlin 229-7606

“To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.” - Helen Keller

Many Colorado Springs residents, including our family, would agree that we love the amount of open space our city has. Take for instance the 318 acres at Stratton Open Space, located just behind Cheyenne Mountain High School on the Southwest side of Colorado Springs. Our family hiked the area about a month ago; it seemed as if we were in the middle of the woods! We didn’t hear a car, see a house, or even run into another person for a good 30 minutes.
Just yesterday, the Colorado Springs Gazette had an article saying that the city will purchase prime Colorado Springs Real Estate on the Southwest side and leave it as Open Space.
It’s amazing how important a Mountain View is to home buyers purchasing Colorado Springs Real Estate, and funny how fast we all seem to forget they’re there. Open Space in Colorado Springs improves our quality of life and reminds us just how beautiful our natural surroundings really are.
What’s your favorite place in Colorado Springs to hike, bike, picnic, run, rock climb, or just enjoy nature? Leave a comment!

Bears in Manitou
Manitou Springs is a small city located just west of Colorado Springs at the foot of Pikes Peak. These Bears are carved with a chain saw; I’m always amazed at people who have such a natural talent!

Downtown Colorado Springs Chalk Art

This was an exciting find! Whoever the artist was did an amazing job. The sidewalk just outside the Pioneer Museum in Downtown Colorado Springs was covered with chalk art, and I couldn’t help but take a picture!

Do you want a garden, but have no where to grow it?

Maybe a community garden, a popular trend in Colorado, is right for you.
My mother and I recently joined a Community Garden in Fountain Colorado. I’m very excited seeing that my own back yard won’t work without a ton of effort.
The goal of this community garden is to “cultivate community through organic gardening and sustainable urban farm projects in the Fountain area” - statement from the Fountain Valley News Newspaper.
The land that will be used for this project has been donated by the Fountain Fire Department Station #3. The community garden consists of 12 plots that are about 300 square feet each and are tilled, manured and ready for use. What makes this even more exciting is that the land and water are FREE, and the cost is only $20 a year!
Pikes Peak Urban Gardens is a partner in this effort and will help and support garden members throughout the season. They will visit bi-weekly from early spring until early fall. Honestly, I don’t know a thing about gardening, so I’m very happy to count on them for advice in selecting the right vegetables to grow in the Pikes Peak Region.
I personally feel that this is a perfect addition to the Fountain Community. I’m excited to spend quality time with my family, learn to grow my own food, and eat great at the same time!
